Looped Jewelry (a one-day workshop, Sunday, September 13, 2009, 9 am to 4 pm)
Using linen, copper and other wires, students will learn several weaving techniques to apply to designing jewelry. There will be many options for shape, material and design. Looping, knotting and twining will be used to make several small projects that can be used as necklaces, small sculptures, or other jewelry. Driftwood, rocks, found objects, tumbled glass and recycled items will be among some of the items that will be used as molds and as a unique part of these pieces. Students may not finish all the projects in the class time, but will have the material and instruction to do so on their own. Students should have the opportunity to make several pieces of jewelry using both wires and soft fibers. All levels welcome. Cost: $50.00 plus a $42.00 material fee.
